Oregon Football: De’Anthony Thomas to Be Featured on the Cover of Sports Illustrated
Congratulations to Oregon Ducks running back De’Anthony Thomas, who will be featured on the cover of the next Sports Illustrated.
Thomas, who is now considered to be one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season, is currently a true sophomore. He is currently averaging 15.9 yards per touch, and has recorded seven touchdowns on only 24 offensive touches.
The Oregon Ducks have never had a player when a Heisman.
Joey Harrington finished 4th in 2001, Kellen Clemens had was considered a favorite before breaking his leg in 2005, Dennis Dixon was considered a lock before going down with an injury in 2007, and LaMichael James finished third in 2010.
Thomas is considered by many to be one of the most elite Oregon Ducks players of all-time. The Sports Illustrated article is welcome confirmation of his talent and achievements. The headline reads:
“Can’t Touch DAT: He’s not a RB, a receiver or even a starter, UO’s DAT is simply a touchdown waiting to happen.”
De’Anthony Thomas currently leads the nation with seven touchdowns.
What do YOU think about the Sports Illustrated cover? Do you think that the Heisman candidacy is legitimate and De’Anthony has a real chance for NYC? Do you believe in the jinx of the Sports Illustrated Cover?
Let us know!
